Ashlee Vance joined Bloomberg Businessweek in 2011 as a technology writer where he has written feature stories on topics ranging from cyber espionage and “the Singularity” to DNA sequencing and space exploration. Previously, Vance was a Silicon Valley technology reporter for The New York Times. He also spent five years as the editor of The Register, the UK technology Web site, and worked as a freelancer for The Economist.

Vance is the author of Geek Silicon Valley (2007), a historical guide book to the epicenter of the technology industry, and the bestseller Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future (2015). Vance is the host of the Bloomberg digital and TV program “Hello World.” 

He graduated from Pomona College with a degree in philosophy.
