Professor Geneviève Berger is the Chief Research Officer at Firmenich, the world’s largest privately-owned company in the fragrance and flavor business. She is responsible for driving world-class research and innovation across Firmenich’s business in areas such as biotechnology, delivery technology systems, as well as sustainability. An internationally recognized science and business leader, Professor Berger, has an exceptional multi-disciplinary background. She holds three doctorates, namely in Physics, Human Biology and Medicine. Her experience ranges from research to improving consumer well-being with Unilever to practicing medicine as a Medical Doctor and Professor at the Hôpital de la Pitié-Salpêtrière and the Pierre and Marie Curie University in France. Furthermore, she led one of the world’s largest research organizations, the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in France, as well as, advised the European Commission and the French Government across a range of topics including Biotech, Agri-Food or Health. Also, she currently sits, as a non-executive director, on the Board of Astra-Zeneca and the Board of Air Liquide.
